जोगे और भोगे की कहानी : पितृ पक्ष (श्राद्ध) की पौराणिक कथा
भाईयों का प्रेम: धनी जोगे और निर्धन भोगे
पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, जोगे और भोगे नामक दो भाई थे, जो अलग-अलग रहते थे। जोगे धनी था जबकि भोगे निर्धन। इसके बावजूद, दोनों भाइयों में अत्यधिक स्नेह और प्रेम था। जोगे की पत्नी को अपने धन का घमंड था, जबकि भोगे की पत्नी स्वभाव से अत्यंत सरल और विनम्र थी।
जब पितृ पक्ष का समय आया, तो जोगे की पत्नी ने अपने पति से पितरों के श्राद्ध करने की बात कही। जोगे को यह अनावश्यक कार्य लगा और उसने श्राद्ध करने से मना कर दिया। उसकी पत्नी ने सोचा, “यदि श्राद्ध नहीं किया, तो समाज में अपकीर्ति होगी और लोग बातें बनाएंगे।” साथ ही, उसने इस अवसर को अपने मायके वालों को बुलाकर अपनी संपन्नता दिखाने का भी अच्छा मौका माना। इसलिए उसने श्राद्ध करने का निर्णय लिया, परंतु उसके मन में धार्मिक भाव कम और लोगों के बीच अपनी प्रतिष्ठा दिखाने की भावना अधिक थी।
भोगे की पत्नी का श्राद्ध की तैयारियों में सहयोग
उसने जोगे से कहा, “तुम चिंता मत करो, मैं भोगे की पत्नी को बुला लूंगी, वह मेरी मदद कर देगी।” उसने तुरंत जोगे को अपने मायके न्योता देने भेज दिया और भोगे की पत्नी को श्राद्ध के काम में सहायता के लिए बुला लिया।
अगले दिन, भोगे की पत्नी अपनी निष्ठा और सेवा भाव से जोगे के घर आकर श्राद्ध की तैयारियों में जुट गई। उसने कई तरह के पकवान बनाए और श्राद्ध की सारी व्यवस्था की। फिर अपने काम निपटाकर वह अपने घर लौट गई, क्योंकि उसे भी अपने पितरों का श्राद्ध-तर्पण करना था।
भोगे के घर पितरों के लिए अगियारी दी गई
जब पूर्वजों का आह्वान किया गया और वे धरती पर आए, तो वे पहले जोगे के घर पहुंचे। उन्होंने देखा कि वहां उनके लिए कोई श्रद्धा का भाव नहीं था, बल्कि जोगे के ससुराल वाले दावत का आनंद ले रहे थे। यह देख पूर्वज निराश हो गए और बिना भोजन किए वहां से चले गए।
इसके बाद पूर्वज भोगे के घर पहुंचे, यह आशा लेकर कि शायद वहां उन्हें तृप्ति मिले। लेकिन वहां पितरों के नाम पर केवल ‘अगियारी’ (धूप जलाने की राख) दी गई थी। पितरों ने उसकी राख चाटी और भूखे ही नदी के तट पर चले गए। थोड़ी देर बाद अन्य पितर भी वहां इकट्ठे हुए और एक-दूसरे के घरों में किए गए श्राद्ध की बात करने लगे। जोगे और भोगे के पितरों ने भी अपनी व्यथा सुनाई। वे सोचने लगे कि अगर भोगे समर्थ होता तो शायद उन्हें भूखा नहीं रहना पड़ता, लेकिन भोगे इतना गरीब था कि उसके पास खुद के लिए भी खाने को कुछ नहीं था। यह सोचकर पितरों को भोगे पर दया आ गई और उन्होंने तय किया कि उसे आशीर्वाद देना चाहिए। तभी सभी पितर एक स्वर में बोले, “भोगे के घर धन हो जाए, भोगे के घर धन हो जाए!”
पितरों का आशीर्वाद: हौदी से निकली सोने की मोहरें
शाम हो गई थी, भोगे के बच्चे भूख से व्याकुल थे और मां से खाने की मांग कर रहे थे। भोगे की पत्नी ने बच्चों से कहा, “आंगन में हौदी के नीचे खाना है, जाकर देख लो।” बच्चों ने जब हौदी खोली, तो वह सोने की मोहरों से भरी हुई थी। बच्चे खुशी से अपनी मां के पास दौड़े और उसे सब कुछ बताया। भोगे और उसकी पत्नी ने भी यह देखा और वे आश्चर्यचकित हो गए। इस तरह, भोगे का परिवार अचानक धनवान हो गया।
हालांकि, भोगे ने धन पाकर कभी अहंकार नहीं किया। अगले वर्ष जब पितृ पक्ष आया, तो भोगे ने संपूर्ण श्रद्धा और भक्ति के साथ पितरों का श्राद्ध किया। उसकी पत्नी ने छप्पन प्रकार के व्यंजन तैयार किए, ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराया और श्रद्धा पूर्वक तर्पण किया। उसने जेठ-जेठानी को भी सोने-चांदी के बर्तनों में भोजन कराया। पितर इस भक्ति और सेवा से अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुए। उन्होंने आशीर्वाद दिया कि भोगे का कुल सदैव सुखी और समृद्ध रहेगा, और उसके घर में हमेशा पितरों की कृपा बनी रहेगी।
Brotherly Love: Rich Joge and Poor Bhoge
According to the legend, there were two brothers named Joge and Bhoge, who lived separately. Joge was rich while Bhoge was poor. Despite this, there was immense affection and love between the two brothers. Joge’s wife was proud of her wealth, while Bhoge’s wife was very simple and humble by nature.
When the time of Pitru Paksha came, Joge’s wife asked her husband to perform the Shraddha of the ancestors. Joge thought this was an unnecessary task and refused to perform the Shraddha. His wife thought, “If the Shraddha is not performed, then there will be a bad name in the society and people will gossip.” Also, she considered this a good opportunity to call her parents and show off her wealth. So she decided to perform the Shraddha, but she had less religious feelings and more feelings of showing off her prestige among people.
Bhoge’s wife’s help in the preparations of Shraddha
She told Joge, “Don’t worry, I will call Bhoge’s wife, she will help me.” She immediately sent Joge to her parents’ house to invite them and called Bhoge’s wife to help in the Shraddha rituals.
The next day, Bhoge’s wife, with her devotion and service spirit, came to Joge’s house and started preparing for Shraddha. She prepared many types of dishes and made all the arrangements for the Shraddha rituals. Then after finishing her work, she returned to her home, as she also had to perform the Shraddha rituals for her ancestors.
Agiyari was given for the ancestors at Bhoge’s house.
When the ancestors were invoked and came to earth, they first reached Joge’s house. They saw that there was no respect for them there, rather Joge’s in-laws were enjoying the feast. Seeing this, the ancestors got disappointed and left without eating.
After this, the ancestors reached Bhoge’s house, hoping that they might find satisfaction there. But there, only ‘Agiyaari’ (ash for burning incense) was given in the name of the ancestors. The ancestors licked its ashes and went to the river bank hungry. After a while, other ancestors also gathered there and started talking about the Shraddha performed in each other’s houses. The ancestors of Joge and Bhoge also told their sorrows. They started thinking that if Bhoge was capable, then perhaps they would not have to stay hungry, but Bhoge was so poor that he did not have anything to eat even for himself. Thinking this, the ancestors felt pity for Bhoge and decided that they should bless him. Then all the ancestors said in one voice, “May there be wealth in Bhoge’s house, may there be wealth in Bhoge’s house!”
Blessings of the ancestors: Gold coins found from the pot
It was evening, Bhoge’s children were hungry and were demanding food from their mother. Bhoge’s wife said to the children, “There is food under the large pot in the kitchen, go and see.” When the children opened the pot, they found it filled with gold coins. The children ran to their mother happily and told her everything. Bhoge and his wife also saw this and were surprised. In this way, Bhoge’s family suddenly became rich.
However, Bhoge never became egoistic after getting money. Next year when Pitru Paksha came, Bhoge performed the Shraddha of the ancestors with complete devotion and reverence. His wife prepared fifty-six types of dishes, fed the Brahmins and offered tarpan with reverence. She also fed her brother-in-law and sister-in-law in gold and silver utensils. The ancestors were very pleased with this devotion and service. They blessed that Bhoge’s clan will always be happy and prosperous, and his house will always be blessed by the ancestors.
ભાઈઓનો પ્રેમ: ધનિક જોગે અને ગરીબ ભોગે
દંતકથા અનુસાર, જોગે અને ભોગે નામના બે ભાઈઓ હતા, જેઓ અલગ રહેતા હતા. જોગે ધનવાન હતો જ્યારે ભોગે ગરીબ હતો. આમ છતાં બંને ભાઈઓમાં અપાર સ્નેહ અને પ્રેમ હતો. જોગેની પત્નીને પોતાની સંપત્તિનું અભિમાન હતું, જ્યારે ભોગેની પત્ની સ્વભાવે ખૂબ જ સરળ અને નમ્ર હતી.
જ્યારે પિતૃ પક્ષનો સમય આવ્યો, ત્યારે જોગેની પત્નીએ તેના પતિને પિતૃઓના શ્રાદ્ધ કરવા માટે કહ્યું. જોગેને આ અનાવશ્યક કામ લાગ્યું અને તેણે શ્રાદ્ધ કરવા માટે ઇનકાર કરી દીધો. તેની પત્નીએ વિચાર્યું, “જો શ્રાદ્ધ નહીં કરવામાં આવે તો સમાજમાં અપકીર્તિ થશે અને લોકો વાતો કરશે.” સાથે જ, તેને આ અવસર પોતાના માઈકાવાળાઓને બોલાવીને તેની સંપન્નતા બતાવવાનો પણ સારો મોકો લાગ્યો. તેથી તેણે શ્રાદ્ધ કરવાનો નિર્ણય લીધો, પરંતુ તેના મનમાં ધાર્મિક ભાવના ઓછી અને લોકોમાં પોતાની પ્રતિષ્ઠા બતાવવાની ભાવના વધુ હતી.
શ્રાદ્ધની તૈયારીમાં ભોગેની પત્નીનો સહયોગ
તેણે જોગેને કહ્યું, “તમે ચિંતા ના કરો, હું ભોગેની પત્નીને બોલાવી લઈશ, તે મારી મદદ કરી દેશે.” તેણે તરત જ જોગેને તેના માઈકાને આમંત્રણ આપવાનું કહ્યું અને ભોગેની પત્નીને શ્રાદ્ધના કામમાં મદદ કરવા બોલાવી લીધી.”
બીજા દિવસે, ભોગેની પત્ની તેની નિષ્ઠા અને સેવાભાવ સાથે જોગેના ઘેર આવી અને શ્રાદ્ધની તૈયારીઓમાં લાગી ગઈ. તેણે ઘણા પ્રકારના વાનગીઓ બનાવ્યાં અને શ્રાદ્ધની બધી વ્યવસ્થા કરી. ત્યારપછી પોતાનું કામ પૂરું કરીને તે પોતાના ઘરે પાછી આવી, કારણ કે તેણે પણ તેના પૂર્વજો માટે શ્રાદ્ધ-તર્પણ કરવાનું હતું.
ભોગેના ઘરે પૂર્વજોને અગિયારી આપવામાં આવી હતી.
જ્યારે પિતૃઓને બોલાવવામાં આવ્યા અને તેઓ ધરતી પર આવ્યા, ત્યારે તેઓ પહેલા જોગેના ઘેર પહોચ્યા. તેમણે જોયું કે ત્યાં તેમની માટે કોઈ શ્રદ્ધાનો ભાવ નહોતો, પરંતુ જોગેના સસરાવાળા ભોજનનો આનંદ માણી રહ્યા હતા. આ જોઈને પિતૃઓ નિરાશ થઈ ગયા અને ભોજન કર્યા વિના જ ત્યાંથી ચાલ્યા ગયા.
આ પછી પૂર્વજો ભોગેના ઘરે પહોંચ્યા, એવી આશા સાથે કે કદાચ ત્યાં તેમને સંતોષ મળશે. પરંતુ ત્યાં પૂર્વજોના નામે માત્ર ‘અગિયારી’ (અગરબત્તીની રાખ) આપવામાં આવતી હતી. પૂર્વજો તેની રાખ ચાટીને ભૂખ્યા પેટે નદી કિનારે ગયા. થોડી વાર પછી અન્ય પિતૃઓ પણ ત્યાં એકઠા થયા અને એકબીજાના ઘેર કરવામાં આવેલા શ્રાદ્ધ વિશે વાત કરવા લાગ્યા. જોગે અને ભોગેના પિતૃઓએ પણ પોતાની વ્યથા રજૂ કરી. તેઓ વિચારવા લાગ્યા કે જો ભોગે સક્ષમ હોત તો કદાચ તેમને ભૂખ્યા રહેવું ન પડત, પરંતુ ભોગે એટલો ગરીબ હતો કે તેના પાસે પોતાના માટે પણ ખાવા માટે કંઈ નહોતું. આ વિચાર કરીને પિતૃઓને ભોગે પર દયા આવી અને તેમણે નક્કી કર્યું કે તેને આશીર્વાદ આપવો જોઈએ. ત્યા બધા પિતૃોએ એક સ્વરે કહ્યું, “ભોગેનું ઘર સમૃદ્ધ બને, ભોગેનું ઘર સમૃદ્ધ થાય!”
પિતૃઓનો આશીર્વાદ: હાંડીમાંથી નીકળી સોના ની મુદ્રાઓ
સાંજ થઈ ગઈ હતી, ભોગેના બાળકો ભૂખથી બેચેન હતા અને માતાને ખાવા માટે માગી રહ્યા હતા. ભોગેની પત્નીએ બાળકોને કહ્યું, “રસોડામાં હાંડી નીચે ખાવાનું છે, જઈને જોઈ આવો.” બાળકોએ જ્યારે હાંડી ખોલી, તો તે સોના ની મુદ્રાઓથી ભરેલી હતી. બાળકો ખુશીથી પોતાની માતા પાસે દોડી ગયા અને તેને બધું જણાવ્યું. ભોગે અને તેની પત્નીએ પણ આ જોયું અને તેઓ આશ્ચર્યચકિત થઈ ગયા. આ રીતે, ભોગેનું કુટુંબ અચાનક ધનવાન બની ગયું.
જો કે, ભોગે પૈસા મળ્યા પછી ક્યારેય અહંકારી ન બન્યો. આગલા વર્ષે જ્યારે પિતૃ પક્ષ આવ્યો, ત્યારે ભોગેએ પૂર્ણ શ્રદ્ધા અને ભક્તિ સાથે પિતૃઓનું શ્રાદ્ધ કર્યું. તેની પત્નીએ છપ્પન પ્રકારના ભોજન તૈયાર કર્યા, બ્રાહ્મણોને ભોજન કરાવ્યું અને શ્રદ્ધાથી તર્પણ કર્યું. તેણે પોતાના જેઠ-જેઠાણીને પણ સોના-ચાંદીના વાસણોમાં ભોજન કરાવ્યું. પિતૃઓ આ ભક્તિ અને સેવાથી ખૂબ ખુશ થયા. તેમણે આશીર્વાદ આપ્યો કે ભોગેનું કુલ હંમેશા સુખી અને સમૃદ્ધ રહેશે, અને તેના ઘરમાં હંમેશા પિતૃઓની કૃપા રહેશે.
