वृंदावन के भोंदू की सच्ची कहानी – ठाकुर जी खुद दौड़े उसके पीछे
भोंदू की सरलता और गुरु भक्ति
कई साल पहले की बात है, वृंदावन में एक संत का आश्रम था। संत के कई शिष्य थे, जो अत्यंत बुद्धिमान थे। उसी संत के आश्रम में गौशाला की सेवा करने वाला एक और शिष्य भी रहता था। वह बहुत ही सरल और भोला-भाला था। उसका असली नाम तो कुछ और था, लेकिन उसके भोलेपन के कारण सभी उसे प्यार से ‘भोंदू’ कहकर बुलाते थे। धीरे-धीरे उसे भी ऐसा लगने लगा कि उसका नाम सच में भोंदू ही है। उसका स्वभाव इतना सरल था कि कोई भी उसे कुछ भी कह देता, तो वह उसे सच मान लेता। उदाहरण के लिए, अगर कोई कहता कि आज सूरज पश्चिम से उगेगा, तो वह इसे भी सच मान लेता। वह पूरी तरह से निष्कपट और अपने गुरुजी पर अटूट विश्वास रखने वाला व्यक्ति था। गौसेवा और कथा सुनने के अलावा उसे और कोई काम नहीं था।
गुरुजी के मुख से श्रीकृष्ण कथा सुनकर भोंदू की जिज्ञासा
हर शाम गुरुजी अपने शिष्यों को कथा सुनाते थे, और भोंदू भी बड़े मन से उनके सभी शिष्यों के पीछे बैठकर कथा सुनता था। जहाँ अन्य शिष्य केवल कथा सुनते थे, वहीं भोंदू गुरुजी की हर बात को पूरी तरह से सच मानता था। एक दिन कथा के दौरान, गुरुदेव श्रीकृष्ण जी की सुंदरता का वर्णन कर रहे थे और भांडीर वन में गौ चराने की बात कर रहे थे। भोंदू ने सोचा कि वह भी तो उसी वन में गायें चराने ले जाता है, लेकिन उसे तो कभी भगवान श्रीकृष्ण नहीं मिले।
भोंदू को लगा कि गुरुजी कोई पुरानी कथा नहीं बता रहे, बल्कि यह अभी की घटना है। भोंदू के मन में यह विचार आया कि शायद वह ही अभागा है, जो उसे अब तक ठाकुरजी के दर्शन नहीं हुए। वह मन ही मन सोचने लगा कि शायद उसने ही ध्यान नहीं दिया होगा। उसने निश्चय किया कि अगले दिन जब वह भांडीर वन में गायें चराने जाएगा, तो अवश्य ध्यान देगा। उसे गुरुजी की वाणी पर अटूट विश्वास था।
भांडीर वन में भोंदू का सखा श्रीकृष्ण से मिलन
अगले दिन सुबह होते ही भोंदू गायों को लेकर भांडीर वन पहुंचा। उसने गायों को चरने के लिए छोड़ दिया और चारों ओर श्रीकृष्ण को ढूंढने लगा। उसे पूरा विश्वास था कि भगवान यहीं कहीं होंगे, बस वह ही उन्हें देख नहीं पा रहा है। वह इतनी सरलता और भक्ति से भगवान को ढूंढ रहा था कि यह देख कर ठाकुरजी उसके भोलेपन पर मोहित हो गए और उनसे से रहा नहीं गया।
तभी अचानक भोंदू की नजर सामने से आ रहे गायों के झुंड पर पड़ी। उसी समूह के बीच में श्यामवर्ण भगवान श्रीकृष्ण पीतांबर पहने धीरे-धीरे उनकी ओर चले आ रहे थे। भोंदू उन्हें देखकर चकित रह गया और खुशी से उछल पड़ा। भगवान के कटाक्ष नेत्र, मोर मुकुट, और चंदन की सुगंध से भरा दिव्य रूप देखकर भोंदू पूरी तरह से मंत्रमुग्ध हो गया।
जब उसने ठाकुरजी को देखा, तो खुशी के मारे उसकी आँखों में आँसू आ गए और उसने उन्हें दंडवत प्रणाम किया। प्रणाम करके जैसे ही वह उठा, उसने देखा कि ठाकुरजी उसके सामने खड़े थे।
ठाकुरजी ने उससे पूछा, “तुम्हारा नाम क्या है?” यह सुनकर भोंदू अपना असली नाम ही भूल गया और बोला, “मुझे मेरा नाम याद नहीं, लेकिन प्रेम से सब मुझे ‘भोंदू’ ही कहकर पुकारते हैं।”
भोंदू नाम सुनते ही ठाकुरजी हँस पड़े और बोले, “क्या तुम्हारा नाम भोंदू है?” भोंदू ने जवाब दिया, “हां, मेरा नाम भोंदू है। आपको यह नाम अच्छा लगा? उसने पूछा, “क्या आप वही ठाकुरजी हैं जिनके बारे में गुरुजी कथा सुनाते हैं?” तब भगवान ने मुस्कराते हुए उत्तर दिया, “हाँ, हम वही श्यामसुंदर हैं।”
श्रीकृष्ण ने भोंदू से मांगी और रोटियाँ
श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा, “तुम सिर्फ बातें ही करोगे या कुछ खिलाओगे और पिलाओगे भी?”
भोंदू ने जवाब दिया, “आप मेरे हाथ की रोटियाँ खाएंगे।” इतना कहकर भोंदू ने अपनी पोटली में से रोटियाँ निकालकर भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के सामने रख दीं। ने सारी रोटियाँ खा लीं।
खाना समाप्त करने के बाद श्रीकृष्ण ने भोंदू से कहा, “और रोटियाँ लाओ।”
भोंदू ने जवाब दिया, “मैं इतनी ही रोटियाँ लाया था ,इससे ज्यादा मैं नहीं खा सकता।”
तब श्रीकृष्ण मुस्कराते हुए बोले, “तो फिर कल से और रोटियाँ लाना, क्योंकि हमें बहुत भूख लगती है।”
ठाकुरजी अपनी गाय लेकर चले गए, और भोंदू भी अपनी गाय लेकर चला गया।
भोंदू की भोली सोच और ठाकुरजी के साथ बढ़ती दोस्ती
भोंदू इतनी भोलेपन से भरा था कि उसे लगा कि ठाकुरजी इसी तरह सबके पास आते हैं और मिलते हैं। उसे यह भी लगा कि वह ही दुर्भाग्यशाली था जो इतने वर्षों तक ठाकुरजी से नहीं मिल सका, लेकिन अब मिल गए हैं। इसी सोच में वह आश्रम गया और इस घटना के बारे में किसी से कुछ नहीं कहा, न ही गुरुजी को बताया।
दूसरे दिन भोंदू ने आश्रम से अधिक रोटियाँ और सब्जी लेकर गाय चराने जाना शुरू कर दिया। धीरे-धीरे ठाकुरजी उसके सखा बन गए। अब वह रोज आश्रम से ठाकुरजी के लिए वन में भोजन ले जाता और उनके साथ ही खेलता।
जब भोंदू ने बताया गुरुजी को भांडीर वन में ठाकुरजी से मिलन के बारे में
ज्यादा रोटियाँ और सब्जी ले जाने की वजह से एक दिन रसोई घर के महाराज जी ने जाकर गुरुजी से शिकायत की। गुरुजी ने भोंदू से पूछा, “क्या बात है भोंदू, तुम पिछले कुछ दिनों से बहुत खुश नजर आ रहे हो। तुम तो इतना भोजन नहीं खाते, फिर इतनी सारी रोटियाँ और सब्जी किसके लिए ले जा रहे हो?”
भोंदू ने सहजता से उत्तर दिया, “जब मैं भांडीर वन में जाता हूँ, तो ठाकुरजी भी वहाँ आते हैं अपनी गैया चराने। उन्हें बहुत भूख लगती है इसीलिए उन्होंने मुझसे ज्यादा रोटियां और सब्जी लेकर जाने को कहा है।”
गुरुजी ने पूछा, “कौन से ठाकुरजी?”
भोंदू ने उत्तर दिया, “वही ठाकुरजी जिनके बारे में आप कथा में बताते हैं।”
गुरुजी ने आश्चर्यचकित होकर कहा, “वह ठाकुरजी यहाँ आते हैं?”
भोंदू ने उत्साह से जवाब दिया, “हाँ, वही ठाकुरजी आते हैं।”
गुरुजी ने पूछा, “ठीक है, वे कैसे दिखते हैं?”
तब भोंदू ने उनके स्वरूप का विवरण करते हुए कहा, “जहाँ भी उनके चरण पड़ते हैं, वह जगह खिल उठती है और सुगंधित हो जाती है। उनके कमल जैसे नेत्र हैं।”
गुरुजी ने सोचा कि कोई और होता तो शायद उनकी बातों पर विश्वास नहीं करता, लेकिन भोंदू जैसी निश्छल और भोले व्यक्ति की बात झूठी नहीं हो सकती। गुरुजी ने कहा, “जब तुम आज ठाकुरजी से मिलो, तो उन्हें बताना कि तुम्हारे गुरुजी ने उन्हें प्रीति भोज के लिए बुलाया है।”
भोंदू यह सुनकर बहुत खुश हो गया, क्योंकि उसे लगा कि यह काम तो किसी अन्य शिष्य को भेजकर भी किया जा सकता था। गुरुजी ने उसे स्वयं आमंत्रित किया, यह सोचकर वह बेहद आनंदित हो गया।
भोंदू की ठाकुरजी से गुरुजी की मुलाकात की मांग
भोंदू खुशी से झूमते हुए भांडीर वन की ओर बढ़ा। जैसे ही वह वहाँ पहुँचा, उसने देखा कि श्याम सुंदर उसकी ओर आ रहे थे। भगवान ने उसे देखा और कहा, “भोंदू, हमें बहुत तेज भूख लगी है, जल्दी से कुछ खिलाओ।”
भोंदू ने तुरंत पत्तल सजाया और कहा, “मेरी एक प्रार्थना है कि आप मेरे साथ आश्रम चलिए। गुरुजी आपसे मिलना चाहते हैं।”
परंतु ठाकुरजी ने जवाब दिया, “देखो भोंदू, हम किसी से नहीं मिलते। हम तुम्हारे सखा है। हम सिर्फ तुम्हारे साथ खाना खाएँगे और खेलेंगे, लेकिन गुरुजी से नहीं मिलेंगे।”
भोंदू ने ठाकुरजी के चरण पकड़ लिया और कहा, “मैं तो आपको जानता भी नहीं, लेकिन गुरुजी ने ही बताया कि आप यहाँ गाय चराने आते हैं, इसलिए मैं आपको जान पाया। मेरे गुरु ने आपको बुलाया है, कृपया मना मत कीजिए, मेरे साथ चलिए।”
ठाकुरजी ने उत्तर दिया, “देखो भोंदू, हम तुम्हारे साथ सब कुछ करेंगे, लेकिन किसी और से नहीं मिलेंगे, चाहे वह गुरुजी हों या उनके गुरुजी।
ठाकुरजी रोटियाँ और गुड़ खा रहे थे, भोंदू ने गुस्से में आकर रोटी खींच ली और कहा, “यह भी मत खाओ, यह भी गुरुजी का है।” उसने पत्तल भी उठा लिया और कहा, “यह भी गुरुजी के यहाँ का बना है। अगर आप गुरुजी से नहीं मिल सकते, तो मुझे भी आपसे मिलना नहीं है।”
ठाकुरजी ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “तू अभी नहीं समझता, बड़े-बड़े लोग हिमालय जाकर मेरी तपस्या करते हैं, और हम तेरे सामने इतनी सहजता से बैठे हैं।”
भोंदू ने दृढ़ता से कहा, “मैंने गुरुजी की सेवा की है और इसके परिणामस्वरूप आपके दर्शन हुए हैं। इसका मतलब है कि गुरु की सेवा तपस्या के बराबर है।”
इतना कहकर भोंदू ने जाने का इरादा किया। भोंदू अपना सारा सामान और गैया को इकठ्ठा करके जाने लगा। लेकिन ठाकुरजी ने उसे रोकते हुए कहा, “रुको भोंदू, एक बार सुनो।” भोंदू ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं तभी रुकूँगा जब आप यह वचन देंगे कि गुरुजी से मिलेंगे।”
गुरुदेव के आश्रम में ठाकुरजी का अलौकिक आगमन
भोंदू धीरे-धीरे आश्रम की ओर लौट रहा था, लेकिन जैसे ही वह दूर जाने लगा, ठाकुरजी के चेहरे पर चिंता की लकीरें खिंच गईं। ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे कुछ अनमोल उनके हाथ से छूट रहा हो। ठाकुरजी तुरंत भोंदू के पीछे दौड़े और उसकी कमर पकड़कर चढ़ गए। उन्होंने कहा, “भोंदू, मत जाओ। मुझे जहां भी ले चलोगे, मैं वहां चलूंगा। चलो, गुरुजी के पास चलो।”
आश्रम में, गुरुदेव भोंदू का इंतजार कर रहे थे। अचानक उन्होंने देखा कि गायों के झुंड के बीच, भोंदू की पीठ पर मुरलीधर विराजमान हैं। यह दृश्य एकदम अलौकिक था। गुरुजी ने मंत्रमुग्ध होकर देखा कि नंदनंदन उनके सामने खड़े हैं। जब गुरुजी को होश आया, तो उन्होंने भोंदू को सम्मानपूर्वक प्रणाम किया और कहा, “तेरी भक्ति को प्रणाम है। आज तेरे कारण स्वयं त्रिलोकीनाथ मेरे आश्रम में आए हैं।”
Bhondu’s simplicity and devotion to his Guru
Many years ago, there was an ashram of a saint in Vrindavan. The saint had many disciples, who were extremely intelligent. In the same saint’s ashram, there lived another disciple who served the cowshed. He was very simple and innocent. His real name was something else, but due to his innocence, everyone lovingly called him ‘Bhondu’. Gradually, he also started feeling that his name was really Bhondu. His nature was so simple that if anyone told him anything, he would believe it to be true. For example, if someone said that today the sun would rise from the west, he would believe it to be true. He was completely honest and had unwavering faith in his Guru. He had no other work except cow service and listening to the story.
Bhondu’s curiosity aroused after listening to the story of Lord Krishna from Guruji
Every evening Guruji used to narrate the story to his disciples, and Bhondu too used to listen to the story with great interest sitting behind all his disciples. While other disciples only listened to the story, Bhondu believed everything Guruji said to be completely true. One day during the story, Gurudev was describing the beauty of Shri Krishna and was talking about grazing cows in Bhandir forest. Bhondu thought that he too used to take cows to graze in the same forest, but he never met Lord Krishna.
Bhondu felt that Guruji was not telling any old story, but this is a recent incident. Bhondu thought that perhaps he is the only unfortunate one, who has not yet seen Thakurji. He started thinking in his mind that perhaps he must have not paid attention. He decided that the next day when he would go to graze cows in Bhandir forest, he would definitely pay attention. He had unshakable faith in Guruji’s words.
Bhondu’s friend meets Sri Krishna in Bhandir forest
Next morning Bhondu reached Bhandir forest with the cows. He left the cows to graze and started looking for Shri Krishna everywhere. He was sure that God must be somewhere here, but he was not able to see him. He was looking for God with such simplicity and devotion that Lord Krishna was fascinated by his innocence and he could not resist.
Then suddenly Bhondu’s eyes fell on a herd of cows coming from the front. In the middle of that group, dark-skinned Lord Krishna was slowly coming towards them wearing yellow clothes. Bhondu was surprised to see him and jumped with joy. Bhondu was completely mesmerized by seeing the divine form of God with sharp eyes, peacock crown, and sandalwood fragrance.
When he saw Lord Krishna, tears came to his eyes due to joy and he bowed down to him. As soon as he got up after bowing, he saw that Lord Krishna was standing in front of him.
Thakurji asked him, “What is your name?” Hearing this, Bhondu forgot his real name and said, “I don’t remember my name, but everyone lovingly calls me ‘Bhondu’.”
On hearing the name Bhondu, Lord Thakurji laughed and said, “Is your name Bhondu?” Bhondu replied, “Yes, my name is Bhondu. Do you like this name?” He asked, “Are you the same Thakurji about whom Guruji narrates the story?” Then God smiled and replied, “Yes, I am the same Shyamsundar.”
Shri Krishna asked Bhondu for more rotis
Shri Krishna said, “Will you just talk or will you feed me something?”
Bhondu replied, “You will eat rotis made by me.” Saying this, Bhondu took out rotis from his bundle and placed them in front of Lord Shri Krishna. He ate all the rotis.
After finishing the food, Shri Krishna said to Bhondu, “Bring more rotis.”
Bhondu replied, “I had brought only this many rotis, I cannot eat more than this.”
Then Shri Krishna smiled and said, “Then bring more rotis from tomorrow, because we are very hungry.”
Thakurji left with his cow, and Bhondu also left with his cow.
Bhondu’s innocent thinking and growing friendship with Thakurji
Bhondu was so innocent that he thought that Lord Thakurji comes and meets everyone in this way. He also thought that he was the unfortunate one who could not meet Lord Thakurji for so many years, but now he has met him. Thinking this, he went to the ashram and did not tell anyone about this incident, nor did he tell Guruji.
The next day Bhondu started taking more rotis and vegetables from the ashram to graze the cows. Gradually, Lord Thakurji became his friend. Now he would take food for Lord Thakurji from the ashram to the forest every day and play with him.
When Bhondu told Guruji about meeting Thakurji in Bhandir forest
One day, the chef of the kitchen complained to Guruji because of carrying more rotis and vegetables. Guruji asked Bhondu, “What is the matter Bhondu, you are looking very happy for the last few days. You do not eat so much food, then for whom are you carrying so many rotis and vegetables?”
Bhondu replied easily, “When I go to Bhandir forest, Thakurji also comes there to graze his cows. He feels very hungry that is why he has asked me to carry more rotis and vegetables.”
Guruji asked, “Which Thakurji?”
Bhondu replied, “The same Thakurji about whom you tell in the story.”
Guruji was surprised and said, “Does that Thakurji come here?”
Bhondu replied enthusiastically, “Yes, the same Thakurji comes.”
Guruji asked, “Well, how does he look?”
Then Bhondu described his appearance and said, “Wherever his feet fall, that place blooms and becomes fragrant. He has eyes like lotus.”
Guruji thought that if it were someone else, he would not have believed him, but the words of a pure and innocent person like Bhondu cannot be false. Guruji said, “When you meet Thakurji today, tell him that your Guruji has invited him for a feast.”
Bhondu became very happy to hear this, because he felt that this work could have been done by sending some other disciple. He became very happy thinking that Guruji had invited him himself.
Bhondu demands a meeting of Guruji with Thakurji
Bhondu moved towards Bhandir forest dancing with joy. As soon as he reached there, he saw Shyam Sundar coming towards him. God looked at him and said, “Bhondu, I am very hungry, feed me something quickly.”
Bhondu immediately decorated the plate and said, “I have a request that you come with me to the ashram. Guruji wants to meet you.”
But Thakurji replied, “Look Bhondu, I don’t meet anyone. I am your friend. I will only eat and play with you, but will not meet Guruji.”
Bhondu held Thakurji’s feet and said, “I don’t even know you, but Guruji told me that you come here to graze the cows, that’s why I got to know you. My Guru has called you, please don’t refuse, come with me.”
Thakurji replied, “Look Bhondu, we will do everything with you, but will not meet anyone else, be it Guruji or his Guruji.
Thakurji was eating rotis and jaggery, Bhondu pulled the roti in anger and said, “Don’t eat this either, this also belongs to Guruji.” He also picked up the leaf plate and said, “This is also made at Guruji’s place. If you cannot meet Guruji, then I also do not want to meet you.”
Thakurji said smilingly, “You still don’t understand, great people go to the Himalayas and do my penance, and we are sitting in front of you so comfortably.”
Bhondu said firmly, “I have served Guruji and as a result I have got your darshan. This means that serving the Guru is equal to penance.”
Having said this, Bhondu decided to leave. Bhondu gathered all his belongings and the cow and started to leave. But Thakurji stopped him and said, “Wait Bhondu, listen once.” Bhondu replied, “I will stop only when you promise that you will meet Guruji.”
Thakurji’s supernatural arrival in Gurudev’s ashram
Bhondu was slowly returning to the ashram, but as soon as he started walking away, lines of worry appeared on Thakurji’s face. It seemed as if something precious was slipping from his hands. Thakurji immediately ran after Bhondu and climbed up holding his waist. He said, “Bhondu, don’t go. I will go wherever you take me. Come, let’s go to Guruji.”
At the ashram, Gurudev was waiting for Bhondu. Suddenly he saw that amidst a herd of cows, Murlidhar was seated on Bhondu’s back. This scene was absolutely supernatural. Guruji looked mesmerized that Nandanand was standing in front of him. When Guruji came to his senses, he bowed respectfully to Bhondu and said, “I salute your devotion. Today, because of you, Trilokinath himself has come to my ashram.”
ભોંદુની સાદગી અને ગુરુની ભક્તિ
ઘણા વર્ષો પહેલા વૃંદાવનમાં એક સંતનો આશ્રમ હતો. સંતના ઘણા શિષ્યો હતા, જે અત્યંત બુદ્ધિશાળી હતા. એ જ સંતના આશ્રમમાં અન્ય એક શિષ્ય રહેતો હતો જે ગાયોની સેવા કરતો હતો. તે ખૂબ જ સરળ અને નિર્દોષ હતો. તેનું અસલી નામ તો કંઈક બીજું જ હતું, પણ તેની માસૂમિયતને કારણે બધા તેને પ્રેમથી ‘ભોંદુ ‘ કહેતા. ધીમે ધીમે તેને પણ લાગવા માંડ્યું કે તેનું નામ ખરેખર ભોંદુ છે. તેમનો સ્વભાવ એટલો સરળ હતો કે જો કોઈ તેમને કંઈ કહે તો તેઓ તેને સત્ય માની લેતા. ઉદાહરણ તરીકે, જો કોઈ કહે કે આજે સૂર્ય પશ્ચિમમાંથી ઉગશે, તો તે આ વાતને સાચી માની લેશે. તેઓ સંપૂર્ણ પ્રમાણિક વ્યક્તિ હતા અને તેમના ગુરુજીમાં અતૂટ વિશ્વાસ ધરાવતા હતા. ગાયોની સેવા અને વાર્તાઓ સાંભળવા સિવાય તેમની પાસે બીજું કોઈ કામ નહોતું.
ગુરુજીના મુખેથી શ્રી કૃષ્ણની કથા સાંભળીને ભોંદુની જિજ્ઞાસા
દરરોજ સાંજે ગુરુજી તેમના શિષ્યોને વાર્તા સંભળાવતા અને ભોંદુ પણ તેમના બધા શિષ્યોની પાછળ બેસીને ખૂબ હૃદયથી વાર્તા સાંભળતા. જ્યારે અન્ય શિષ્યો માત્ર વાર્તા સાંભળતા હતા, ત્યારે ભોંદુએ ગુરુજીએ જે કહ્યું હતું તે બધું જ સત્ય હતું. એક દિવસ કથા દરમિયાન, ગુરુદેવ શ્રી કૃષ્ણજીની સુંદરતાનું વર્ણન કરી રહ્યા હતા અને ભાંડિરવનમાં ગાયો ચરવા વિશે વાત કરી રહ્યા હતા. ભોંદુએ વિચાર્યું કે તે પણ આ જ જંગલમાં ગાયો ચરાવવા માટે લઈ જાય છે, પરંતુ તેને ક્યારેય ભગવાન કૃષ્ણ મળ્યા નથી.
ભોંદુને લાગ્યું કે ગુરુજી કોઈ જૂની વાર્તા નથી કહી રહ્યા, બલ્કે આ તાજેતરની ઘટના છે. ભોંદુના મનમાં વિચાર આવ્યો કે કદાચ તે જ કમનસીબ હશે જેણે હજુ સુધી ઠાકુરજીને જોયા નથી. તે મનમાં વિચારવા લાગ્યો કે કદાચ તેણે પોતે ધ્યાન ન આપ્યું હોય. તેણે નક્કી કર્યું કે બીજા દિવસે જ્યારે તે ભાંડિરવન માં ગાયો ચરાવવા જશે ત્યારે ચોક્કસ ધ્યાન આપશે. તેમને ગુરુજીના શબ્દોમાં અતૂટ વિશ્વાસ હતો
ભાંડિરવનમાં ભોંદુને સખા શ્રી કૃષ્ણનું મિલન
બીજે દિવસે વહેલી સવારે ભોંદુ ગાયો સાથે ભાંડિરવનમાં પહોંચી ગયો. તેણે ગાયોને ચરાવવા છોડી દીધી અને ચારેબાજુ શ્રી કૃષ્ણને શોધવા લાગ્યા. તેને પૂરો વિશ્વાસ હતો કે ભગવાન અહીં ક્યાંક હોવા જ જોઈએ, ફક્ત તે જ તેને જોઈ શકતા નથી. તે એવી સાદગી અને ભક્તિથી ભગવાનને શોધતો હતો કે આ જોઈને ઠાકુરજી તેની નિર્દોષતાથી મોહિત થઈ ગયા અને તેમને પ્રેમ કરવાનું રોકી શક્યા નહીં.
ત્યારે અચાનક ભોંદુની નજર સામેથી આવતા ગાયોના ટોળા પર પડી. એ જ સમૂહની વચ્ચે, પીળી પાઘડી પહેરેલા શ્યામ રંગના ભગવાન શ્રી કૃષ્ણ ધીમે ધીમે તેમની તરફ ચાલી રહ્યા હતા. તેમને જોઈને ભોંદુ આશ્ચર્યચકિત થઈ ગયો અને આનંદથી ઉછળી પડ્યો. કટાક્ષ આંખો, મોર મુગટ અને ચંદનની સુવાસથી ભરેલા ભગવાનના દિવ્ય સ્વરૂપને જોઈને ભોંડુ સંપૂર્ણપણે મંત્રમુગ્ધ થઈ ગયો.
જ્યારે તેમણે ઠાકુરજીને જોયા ત્યારે તેમની આંખોમાંથી આંસુ આવી ગયા અને તેમણે તેમને પ્રણામ કર્યા. પ્રણામ કર્યા પછી જેવો તે ઉઠ્યો ત્યારે તેણે જોયું કે ઠાકુરજી તેમની સામે ઉભા છે.
ઠાકુરજીએ તેને પૂછ્યું, “તારું નામ શું છે?” આ સાંભળીને ભોંદુ પોતાનું અસલી નામ ભૂલી ગયો અને બોલ્યો, “મને મારું નામ યાદ નથી, પણ બધા મને પ્રેમથી ‘ભોંદુ’ કહે છે.”
ભોંદુ નામ સાંભળીને ઠાકુરજી હસ્યા અને બોલ્યા, “તારું નામ ભોંદુ છે?” ભોંદુએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “હા, મારું નામ ભોંદુ છે ? “
શ્રી કૃષ્ણે ભોંદુ પાસેથી વધુ રોટલી મંગાવી
શ્રી કૃષ્ણએ કહ્યું, “શું તું માત્ર વાતો જ કરીશ કે કંઈક ખવડાવીશ પીવડાવીશ પણ ?”
ભોંદુએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “તમે મારા હાથની રોટલી ખાશો.” આટલું કહીને ભોંદુએ પોતાના થેલામાંથી રોટલી કાઢીને ભગવાન કૃષ્ણની સામે મૂકી દીધી. બધી રોટલી ખાધી.
ભોજન સમાપ્ત કર્યા પછી, શ્રી કૃષ્ણએ ભોંદુને કહ્યું, “વધુ રોટલી લાવો.”
ભોંદુએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “હું માત્ર આટલી જ રોટલી લાવ્યો છું, હું આનાથી વધુ ખાઈ શકતો નથી.”
ત્યારે શ્રી કૃષ્ણ હસ્યા અને બોલ્યા, “તો કાલથી વધુ રોટલી લાવજે, કારણ કે મને બહુ ભૂખ લાગે છે.”
ઠાકુરજી તેની ગાયો લઈને ચાલ્યા ગયા, અને ભોંદુ પણ તેની ગાયો લઈને ચાલ્યો ગયો.
ભોંદુની નિર્દોષ વિચારસરણી અને ઠાકુરજી સાથે વધતી જતી મિત્રતા
ભોંદુ એટલો નિર્દોષ હતો કે તેણે વિચાર્યું કે ઠાકુરજી આવી રીતે બધાને મળે છે. તેને એમ પણ લાગ્યું કે તે કમનસીબ વ્યક્તિ છે જે આટલા વર્ષો સુધી ઠાકુરજીને મળી શક્યો નથી, પણ હવે તેની પાસે છે. આ વાતને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને તે આશ્રમમાં ગયો અને તેણે આ ઘટના વિશે કોઈને કંઈ કહ્યું નહીં, ન તો ગુરુજીને કહ્યું.
બીજા દિવસે, ભોંદુ આશ્રમમાંથી વધુ રોટલી અને શાક લઈને ગાયો ચરાવવા જવા લાગ્યો. ધીરે ધીરે ઠાકુરજી તેમના મિત્ર બની ગયા. હવે તે દરરોજ આશ્રમમાંથી ઠાકુરજી માટે જંગલમાં ભોજન લઈ જતો અને તેમની સાથે રમતો..
જ્યારે ભોંદુએ ગુરુજીને ભાંડિરવનમાં ઠાકુરજીને મળવા વિશે જણાવ્યું
એક દિવસ રસોડાના રસોઇયાએ જઈને ગુરુજીને ઘણી બધી રોટલી અને શાક લઈને જવાની ફરિયાદ કરી. ગુરુજીએ ભોંદુને પૂછ્યું, “શું વાત છે ભોંદુ, છેલ્લા કેટલાક દિવસોથી તું બહુ ખુશ દેખાઈ રહ્યો છે. તું આટલું ભોજન તો નથી ખાતો, તો પછી તું આટલી બધી રોટલી અને શાક કોના માટે લે છે?”
ભોંદુએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “હું જ્યારે ભાંડિરવનમાં જાઉં છું, ત્યારે ઠાકુરજી પણ ત્યાં તેમની ગાયો ચરાવવા આવે છે. તેમને ખૂબ ભૂખ લાગે છે, તેથી જ તેમણે મને વધુ રોટલી અને શાક લાય આવવા કહ્યું છે.”
ગુરુજીએ પૂછ્યું, “કયા ઠાકુરજી?”
ભોંદુએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “એ જ ઠાકુરજી જેના વિશે તમે વાર્તામાં કહો છો.”
ગુરુજી નવાઈ પામ્યા અને બોલ્યા, “એ ઠાકુરજી અહીં આવે છે?”
ભોંદુએ ઉત્સાહથી જવાબ આપ્યો, “હા, એ જ ઠાકુરજી આવે છે.”
ગુરુજીએ પૂછ્યું, “ઠીક છે, તેઓ કેવા દેખાય છે?”
પછી ભોંદુએ તેના રૂપનું વર્ણન કરતાં કહ્યું, “જ્યાં તેના પગ પડે છે, તે જગ્યા ખીલે છે અને સુગંધિત બને છે. તેની આંખો કમળ જેવી છે.”
ગુરુજીએ વિચાર્યું કે બીજું કોઈ હોત તો કદાચ તેમની વાત પર વિશ્વાસ ન કર્યો હોત, પણ ભોંદુ જેવા નિર્દોષ અને નિર્દોષ વ્યક્તિની વાત ખોટી ન હોઈ શકે. ગુરુજીએ કહ્યું, “જ્યારે તું આજે ઠાકુરજીને મળે ત્યારે તેમને કહેજે કે મારા ગુરુજીએ તેમને પ્રીતિભોજ માટે આમંત્રણ આપ્યું છે.”
આ સાંભળીને ભોંદુ ખૂબ જ ખુશ થઈ ગયો, કારણ કે તેને લાગ્યું કે બીજા શિષ્યને મોકલીને આ કામ થઈ શક્યું હોત. ગુરુજીએ પોતે તેમને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું છે તે વિચારીને તે અત્યંત ખુશ થઈ ગયો.
ઠાકુરજી સાથે ગુરુજીની મુલાકાત માટે ભોંદુની માંગ
ભોંદુ આનંદથી ઝૂલતો ભાંડિરવન તરફ આગળ વધ્યો. ત્યાં પહોંચતા જ તેણે જોયું કે શ્યામ સુંદર તેની તરફ આવી રહ્યો છે. ભગવાને તેની સામે જોયું અને કહ્યું, “ભોંદુ, મને બહુ ભૂખ લાગી છે, કૃપા કરીને મને જલ્દી કંઈક ખવડાવ.”
ભોંદુએ તરત જ થાળી સજાવી અને કહ્યું, “મારી એક વિનંતી છે કે તમે મારી સાથે આશ્રમમાં આવો. ગુરુજી તમને મળવા માંગે છે.”
પરંતુ ઠાકુરજીએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “જો ભોંદુ, હું કોઈને મળતો નથી. હું તારો મિત્ર છું . હું ફક્ત તારી સાથે ખાઈશ અને રમીશ, પરંતુ ગુરુજીને મળીશ નહીં.”
ભોંદુએ ઠાકુરજીના પગ પકડીને કહ્યું, “હું તમને ઓળખતો પણ નહતો , પણ ગુરુજીએ મને કહ્યું કે તમે અહીં ગાયો ચરાવવા આવો છો, તેથી જ હું તમને ઓળખી શક્યો છું. મારા ગુરુએ તમને બોલાવ્યા છે, કૃપા કરીને ના ના પાડશો, મારી સાથે આવો.”
ઠાકુરજીએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “જો ભોંદુ, હું તારી સાથે બધું કરીશ, પણ બીજા કોઈને મળીશ નહીં, પછી તે ગુરુજી હોય કે તેમના ગુરુજી.
ઠાકુરજી રોટલી અને ગોળ ખાતા હતા, ભોંદુ ગુસ્સે થઈ ગયો અને રોટલી હાથમાંથી ખેંચીને કહ્યું, “આ પણ ના ખાઓ, આ પણ ગુરુજીનું છે.” તેણે થાળી પણ ઉપાડી અને કહ્યું, “આ પણ ગુરુજીની જગ્યાએથી બનેલી છે. જો તમે ગુરુજીને ન મળી શકો તો હું પણ તમને મળવા નથી માંગતો.”
ઠાકુરજીએ હસતાં હસતાં કહ્યું, “તું હજી સમજતો નથી, મોટા મોટા લોકો હિમાલયમાં જઈને મારી તપસ્યા કરે છે, અને હું તારી સામે આટલી સરળતાથી બેઠો છું.”
ભોંદુએ મક્કમતાથી કહ્યું, “મેં ગુરુજીની સેવા કરી છે અને પરિણામે તમને જોયા છે. આનો અર્થ એ થયો કે ગુરુની સેવા તપસ્યા સમાન છે.”
આટલું કહીને ભોંદુએ જવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. ભોંદુએ પોતાનો બધો સામાન અને ગાયો એક્ઠી કરી અને જવા લાગ્યો. પણ ઠાકુરજીએ તેને રોક્યો અને કહ્યું, “ઉભો રહે ભોંદુ , એકવાર સંભાળ.” ભોંદુએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “જો તમે વચન આપો કે તમે ગુરુજીને મળશો તો જ હું ઉભો રહીશ.”
ગુરુદેવના આશ્રમમાં ઠાકુરજીનું અલૌકિક આગમન
ભોંદુ ધીમે ધીમે આશ્રમ તરફ પાછો ફરી રહ્યો હતો, પરંતુ તે દૂર જવાનું શરૂ કર્યું કે તરત જ ઠાકુરજીના ચહેરા પર ચિંતાની રેખાઓ દેખાઈ. તેમના હાથમાંથી કોઈ કિંમતી વસ્તુ સરકી રહી હોય એવું લાગતું હતું. ઠાકુરજી તરત જ ભોંદુની પાછળ દોડ્યા અને તેની કમર પકડીને તેના પર ચડી ગયા. તેણે કહ્યું, “તું ન જા, ભોંદુ. તું મને જ્યાં લઈ જઈશ, હું ત્યાં જઈશ. ચાલ, ગુરુજી પાસે જા.”
આશ્રમમાં ગુરુદેવ ભોંદુની રાહ જોઈ રહ્યા હતા. અચાનક તેણે જોયું કે મુરલીધર ગાયોના ટોળાની વચ્ચે ભોંદુની પીઠ પર બેઠો હતો. આ દ્રશ્ય એકદમ અલૌકિક હતું. ગુરુજીએ મોહથી જોયું કે નંદનંદન તેમની સામે ઊભો છે. જ્યારે ગુરુજીને હોશ આવ્યો ત્યારે તેમણે આદરપૂર્વક ભોંદુને પ્રણામ કર્યા અને કહ્યું, “હું તારી ભક્તિને વંદન કરું છું. તારા કારણે આજે ત્રિલોકીનાથ સ્વયં મારા આશ્રમમાં આવ્યા છે.”
