This story reminds us of the importance of following our Guru’s guidance. Adhaiya ji neither recited mantras nor followed any set worship practices, yet by simply obeying Gurudev’s instructions, was blessed with the divine presence of Lord Ram.
हास्य से भरा भक्त अढ़ैया जी का प्रसंग: कैसे उन्होंने प्रभु श्रीराम से बनवाया भोजन!
अढ़ैया का अनोखा नाम और जीवन संघर्ष
एक गांव में अढ़ैया नाम का एक बहुत ही सीधा-साधा युवक रहता था। अढ़ैया का मतलब होता है ढाई किलो। उसका नाम अढ़ैया इसलिए पड़ा क्योंकि उसका भोजन कम से कम ढाई किलो का होता था। माता-पिता के निधन के बाद उसे रोज़ ढाई किलो आटे की रोटी खिलाने वाला कोई नहीं बचा था। उनका परिवार था, लेकिन कोई काम-धंधा नहीं करते थे। उनकी खाने की आदत से परेशान होकर परिवार ने उन्हें घर से निकाल दिया और कहा, “हम इतना भोजन नहीं करा सकते। आप कहीं और जाएं, जहाँ आपका पेट भर सके।”
आश्रम में शरण और स्वामी रामदास जी से भेंट
अढ़ैया दुखी मन से चल पड़े। भूख से परेशान होकर, वे एक दिन एक आश्रम पहुंचे और वहाँ काम मांगने लगे। वह महान संत समर्थ स्वामी श्री रामदास जी का आश्रम था, जो स्वयं हनुमान जी के अवतार माने जाते थे। अढ़ैया ने स्वामी जी को प्रणाम किया और अपनी समस्या बताई।
स्वामी जी ने कहा, “यहाँ तो भंडारा चलता है, तुम्हारे खाने की व्यवस्था हो जाएगी। लेकिन, बदले में तुम्हें यहाँ सेवा करनी होगी।”
अढ़ैया ने निश्चिंत होकर कहा, “मुझे जो भी काम देंगे, मैं उसे सीखकर कर लूंगा।”
स्वामी जी ने सोचा और अढ़ैया को गाय चराने की जिम्मेदारी दे दी। उन्होंने उसे बताया कि वैष्णव परंपरा का पालन करते हुए, जब तुम गाय चराने जाओ, तो यहाँ से आटा और सब्ज़ी लेकर जाओ। जंगल में जाकर भोजन बनाना, पहले ठाकुर जी को भोग लगाना, फिर प्रसाद के रूप में खाना खाना। इस तरह से सेवा भी होगी और तुम्हारा भोजन भी सुनिश्चित रहेगा।
अढ़ैया जी ने विनम्रता से कहा, “मुझे तो भोग लगाना आता ही नहीं।”
स्वामी जी ने कहा, “कोई बात नहीं, जब भोग तैयार हो जाए, तो भगवान को बुला लेना। वो भोग लगा लेंगे, फिर तुम प्रसाद ग्रहण कर लेना।”
अढ़ैया जी का पहला भोग और भगवान के आगमन का इंतजार
पहले दिन, अढ़ैया जी ने जंगल में गोबर के उपले इकट्ठे किए और उन पर ढाई किलो आटे की बाटी बना ली। साथ में आलू का भरता भी तैयार किया। फिर उन्होंने हाथ जोड़कर कहा, “गुरुदेव के ठाकुर, आइये, भोग लगाइए।”
जब कोई नहीं आया, तो अढ़ैया बेचैन हो गया। उसे भूख लग रही थी और राम जी के आने का इंतजार करते-करते धैर्य टूटने लगा। भोला मानस नहीं जानता था कि प्रभु साक्षात् सामने प्रकट नहीं होंगे। लेकिन गुरुजी की आज्ञा मानना जरूरी था।
थोड़ी देर बाद उसने प्रभु राम से कहा, “देखो प्रभु, अब मुझे समझ आ गया कि आप क्यों नहीं आ रहे हैं। मैंने साधारण और रूखा-सूखा खाना बनाया है, जबकि आपको तो हमेशा अच्छे-अच्छे पकवान खाने की आदत है, इसलिए आप नहीं आए।”
जिस भगवान श्री राम को बड़े-बड़े ऋषि-मुनियों की कठोर साधना भी नहीं बुला पाती, वो उस भोले भक्त की सच्ची पुकार सुनकर तुरंत वहां प्रकट हो गए।
अढ़ैया की पुकार पर भगवान श्री राम का प्रकट होना
अढ़ैया ने जब आँखें खोलीं, तो देखा कि धनुषधारी श्री राम उनके सामने खड़े हैं। अढ़ैया हैरानी से बोला, “आप कौन हैं?” भगवान मुस्कुराते हुए बोले, “लोग मुझे श्री राम कहते हैं। तुमने गुरुदेव के ठाकुर को बुलाया था, और तुम्हारे गुरुदेव के ठाकुर हम ही हैं, इसलिए हम आ गए।”
श्री राम ने कहा, “आलू के भरते की खुशबू बहुत अच्छी आ रही है, हम भी तुम्हारे साथ खाना खाएँगे।”
अढ़ैया चौंकते हुए बोला, “मुझे तो लगा था कि आपको सिर्फ भोग लगाना होता है, क्या आप सच में खाते हैं?”
श्री राम ने उत्तर दिया, “हम सभी का भोजन नहीं ग्रहण करते, लेकिन जब तुम जैसे सच्चे भक्त हमें पुकारते हैं, तो हम अवश्य खाते हैं।”
अढ़ैया जी बहुत भोले थे, उन्हें ज़्यादा कुछ पता नहीं था। जो भगवान बड़े-बड़े मुनियों के ध्यान में भी नहीं आते, वो उस भोले भक्त के एक बार बुलाने पर तुरंत आ गए। श्री राम ने अढ़ैया जी से कहा, “तुम आँख बंद करो, तब हम भोग ग्रहण करेंगे।”
अढ़ैया जी ने सोचा कि प्रभु बस एक-दो बाटी खाएँगे, लेकिन श्री राम ने सारा भोजन ग्रहण कर लिया। जब अढ़ैया ने आँखें खोलीं, तो हक्के-बक्के रह गए और बोले, “प्रभु, आज आप मुझे भूखा ही रखेंगे क्या?”
श्री राम ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा, “क्या तुम जानते हो कि तुम्हारे गुरुदेव ने तुम्हें भोग लगाने के लिए क्यों कहा था? आज एकादशी है, इसलिए उन्होंने तुम्हें आटा देकर कहा कि तुम खुद पका के भोग लगाओ। अब से रोज़ तुम्हें आटा और सब्ज़ी मिलेगी, और तुम पकाकर हमें बुला लिया करना। हम आकर भोग ग्रहण करेंगे।”
अढ़ैया जी ने उत्सुकता से पूछा, “प्रभु, क्या आप रोज़ आएँगे?”
श्री राम ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “अगर तुम रोज़ बुलाओगे, तो हम जरूर आएँगे।”
अगले दिन अढ़ैया जी आश्रम लौटे और गुरुजी से बोले, “आपके ठाकुर जी कल आए थे और सारी बाटी खा गए। अब से मैं पाँच किलो आटा ले जाऊँगा—ढाई किलो आपके ठाकुर जी के लिए और ढाई किलो मेरे लिए।”
गुरुजी को हँसी आ गई, और उन्होंने भंडारी से कहा, “जो भी ये माँगें, इन्हें दे दिया करो। पूछने की कोई ज़रूरत नहीं है।”
श्री राम के संग माता सीता भी आईं इस बार
अगले दिन अढ़ैया जी गायों को चराने के लिए जंगल पहुंचे। गायों को छोड़ने के बाद उन्होंने फिर से बाटी और भरता बनाया। पत्तल में भोजन परोसकर आँखें बंद कीं और कहा, “गुरुदेव के ठाकुर, पधारिए।”
जब उन्होंने आँखें खोलीं, तो देखा कि इस बार श्री राम के साथ माता सीता भी आई थीं। अढ़ैया ने आश्चर्य से पूछा, “यह कौन हैं?”
श्री राम ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “यह मेरी अर्धांगिनी, सीता हैं।”
अढ़ैया जी ने भोलेपन से पूछा, “कल आपने क्यों नहीं बताया कि आपकी अर्धांगिनी भी हैं? क्या ये भी हमारे साथ भोजन करेंगी?”
श्री राम ने हंसते हुए कहा, “हाँ, यह भी मेरे जितना ही भोजन करती हैं।”
अढ़ैया जी ने भोग लगाते हुए कहा, “गुरुदेव के ठाकुर, भोग स्वीकार कीजिए।” और श्री राम और माता सीता ने मिलकर सारा भोजन ग्रहण कर लिया।
अढ़ैया जी आश्रम लौटकर गुरुदेव से बोले, “कल से हमें साढ़े सात किलो आटा चाहिए, क्योंकि आपके ठाकुर आज अपनी पत्नी को भी लेकर आए थे।” आश्रम के लोग उनकी बातों पर विश्वास नहीं कर पा रहे थे और सोचने लगे कि अढ़ैया जी शायद गायों को बाटी खिला देते होंगे। गुरुजी ने आदेश दिया कि अढ़ैया जी को साढ़े सात किलो आटा दे दिया जाए।”
श्री राम के साथ सीता और लक्ष्मण का आगमन
अगले दिन अढ़ैया जी को बाटी बनाते-बनाते दोपहर के तीन बज गए। पत्तल में भोजन परोसकर उन्होंने पुकारा, “गुरुदेव के ठाकुर, पधारिए।” इस बार श्री राम अपने साथ सीता जी और लक्ष्मण जी को लेकर आए थे।
अढ़ैया ने हैरानी से पूछा, “ये कौन हैं?”
श्री राम ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “यह हमारे छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण हैं।”
अढ़ैया ने मासूमियत से कहा, “पहले बता देते तो हम और व्यवस्था कर लेते।”
श्री राम ने हंसते हुए लक्ष्मण से कहा, “बहुत भोला भक्त है, नाराज मत होना।”
तीनों के चले जाने के बाद, अढ़ैया ने पत्तलों में जो जूठन बची थी, वह खाई। जैसे ही उन्होंने वह प्रसाद ग्रहण किया, उन्हें एक अलौकिक आनंद की अनुभूति हुई।
अढ़ैया जी ने अगले दिन आश्रम से दस किलो आटा माँगा और बताया, “आज आपके ठाकुर जी के साथ एक गोरे-गोरे भाई भी आए थे।” गुरुजी हैरान थे कि इस भोले भक्त को श्री राम, सीता और लक्ष्मण का अनुभव कैसे हुआ। उन्होंने सोचा, भूख के मारे बावला हो गया है। उन्हें यकीन नहीं हो रहा था कि यह सब सच है।
हनुमान जी का भी आगमन
अढ़ैया जी ने दस किलो आटा लेकर जंगल में जाकर बाटी बनाई और फिर पुकारा, “गुरुदेव के ठाकुर, पधारिए।” इस बार, श्री राम के साथ विशाल गदा लिए हनुमान जी भी आए थे।
अढ़ैया ने आश्चर्यचकित होकर श्री राम से पूछा, “ये कौन हैं?”
श्री राम ने कहा, “यह हमारे प्रिय सेवक, हनुमान जी हैं।”
अढ़ैया जी ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “अगर आप हमें पहले ही बता देते कि कितने लोग होंगे, तो हम और अधिक व्यवस्था कर लेते।”
श्री राम ने हनुमान जी से कहा, “ग़ुस्सा मत होना, यह भक्त बहुत ही निराला है।”
फिर अढ़ैया ने सभी को कहा, “प्रसाद पाइए, प्रभु।” सभी ने प्रसाद का आनंद लिया और बचा हुआ भोजन हनुमान जी ने पूरी तरह से समाप्त कर दिया।
अढ़ैया जी आश्रम लौटे और गुरुदेव से कहा, “कल से पाँच किलो और आटा दे दीजिए। आज आपके प्रभु के एक विशाल सेवक भी साथ आए थे।
गुरुदेव को बहुत आश्चर्य हुआ। उन्हें यह सोचकर रोमांच हुआ कि क्या प्रभु सच में इस भक्त पर इतनी कृपा कर रहे हैं? उन्होंने तय किया कि अगली बार अढ़ैया की परीक्षा ली जाएगी।
श्री राम और उनके पूरे परिवार ने भक्त की सेवा स्वीकार की
अगले दिन, अढ़ैया ने पंद्रह किलो आटा लिया, बाटी बनाई और पुकारा, “गुरुदेव के ठाकुर, पधारिए।” इस बार श्री राम के साथ दो और लोग भी आए थे।
अढ़ैया ने उत्सुकता से श्री राम से पूछा, “ये दोनों कौन हैं?”
श्री राम ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा, “ये हमारे दो और भाई हैं—भरत और शत्रुघ्न।”
अढ़ैया सोचने लगे, “लगता है, आज भी भूखा रहना पड़ेगा।”
अढ़ैया जी ने सभी को प्रसन्नता के साथ भोजन कराया और खुद चुपचाप सबको देखने लगे। अनजाने में ही उनकी भी एकादशी पूरी हो गई।
अढ़ैया जी आश्रम लौटे और गुरुदेव से कहा, “कल से बीस किलो आटे की बोरी दे दीजिए। आपके इतने ठाकुर हैं, हम दिन भर उनके लिए भोग बनाएँगे।”
भगवान ने भक्त के लिए स्वयं तैयार किया भोजन!
अगले दिन अढ़ैया जी जंगल में गए, सारा सामान रख दिया, लेकिन कुछ भी पकाया नहीं। फिर उन्होंने पुकारा, “गुरुदेव के ठाकुर, पधारिए।”
सारा राम दरबार वहाँ उपस्थित था। लेकिन देखा तो प्रसाद तैयार ही नहीं था। प्रभु ने अढ़ैया से पूछा, “आज तो कोई खुशबू नहीं आ रही, आपने कुछ बनाया क्यों नहीं?”
अढ़ैया जी ने सरलता से जवाब दिया, “मुझे खाना तो मिलना ही नहीं है, तो फिर क्यों बनाऊँ? प्रभु, आज आपके साथ आपकी पत्नी और सेवक भी हैं। इतने दिनों से आप हमारे हाथ का प्रसाद ग्रहण कर रहे हैं, आज हम आपके हाथ का भोजन पाना चाहते हैं।”
प्रभु ने सीता जी की ओर देखा और कहा, “देखो, यह भक्त कितना अनोखा है।” सीता जी, जो अनंत सामर्थ्य और सभी शक्तियों की स्वामिनी हैं, ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा, “सत्य है, यह भक्त अद्वितीय है।”
अढ़ैया जी ने कहा, “प्रभु, मैंने न तो लकड़ी इकट्ठी की है और न ही उपला।कृपया अपने सेवकों से कहिए कि वे इन चीज़ों की व्यवस्था करें।”
श्री राम ने तुरंत आदेश दिया: हनुमान जी को लकड़ी और उपला इकट्ठा करने के लिए भेजा, लक्ष्मण जी को चूल्हा जलाने के लिए कहा, और सीता जी ने स्वयं भोजन तैयार करने का कार्य शुरू कर दिया।
गुरुदेव ने प्रभु की दयालुता का अनोखा दर्शन किया!
अढ़ैया जी ने प्रभु से कहा, “आप भोजन तैयार कीजिए, मैं गायें इकट्ठा करके आता हूँ।” फिर वह तेजी से आश्रम की ओर भागे और गुरुदेव से बोले, “आज हमने आपके ठाकुर के पूरे परिवार को यहाँ बुला लिया है। सभी ठाकुर मिलकर रोटी और बाटी बना रहे हैं।गुरुदेव, आप भी चलिए, आप हमेशा संदेह करते थे, आज आप उनके हाथ का बना भोजन स्वयं ग्रहण कीजिए।”
गुरुदेव ने सोचा कि यह व्यक्ति पागल है। श्री राम, जो बड़े-बड़े योगियों के ध्यान में भी नहीं आते, वह एक साधारण गवाँर के सामने कैसे आ सकते हैं, जिसका न तो कोई मंत्र जपना आता है और न ही ग्रंथ पढ़ना आता है? लेकिन उन्होंने तय किया कि भगवान की दयालुता पर संदेह नहीं करना चाहिए और चलकर देख लिया।
गुरुदेव, जो हमेशा भजन में लीन रहते थे, प्रभु के दर्शन के अधिकारी तो थे ही। जब वे वहाँ पहुँचे, तो देखा कि पूरा राम दरबार उपस्थित था। उन्होंने प्रभु के चरणों में साष्टांग प्रणाम किया और कहा, “प्रभु, आपकी यह लीला मेरी समझ से परे है।”
श्री राम ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “जो ज्ञानी भक्त हैं, मैं तर्क से भी उनके समझ में नहीं आता, और विद्वानों की विद्वता भी मुझे छू नहीं सकती। लेकिन जो सरल, निष्कपट और भोले होते हैं, उनके सामने मैं अपनी महिमा और दिव्यता को भूल जाता हूँ। देखो, तुम्हारे इस भोले भक्त के कहने पर हमारा पूरा परिवार उसकी सेवा में लगा हुआ है।”
इस प्रकार, एक सरल भक्त के आग्रह पर प्रभु ने रसोई भी बनाई। यह भक्ति की अद्भुत कथा लोकमान्यता पर आधारित है।
Adhaiya’s unique name and life struggle
A very simple young man named Adhaiya lived in a village. Adhaiya means two and a half kilos. He was named Adhaiya because his food weighed at least two and a half kilos. After the death of his parents, there was no one left to feed him two and a half kilos of roti every day. He had a family, but did not do any work. Frustrated with his eating habits, the family threw him out of the house and said, “We can’t afford so much food. You go somewhere else where you can fill your stomach.”
Shelter in the Ashram and meeting with Swami Ramdas Ji
Adhaiya left with a sad heart. Troubled by hunger, he reached an ashram one day and started asking for work there. It was the ashram of the great saint Samarth Swami Shri Ramdas Ji, who himself was considered to be the incarnation of Hanuman Ji. Adhaiya bowed to Swami Ji and told him his problem.
Swami Ji said, “Bhandara is going on here, your food will be arranged. But, in return you will have to serve here.”
Adhaiya said with relief, “Whatever work you give me, I will learn it and do it.”
Swami Ji thought and gave Adhaiya the responsibility of grazing the cows. He told him that following the Vaishnav tradition, when you go to graze the cows, take flour and vegetables from here. Go to the forest and cook food, first offer it to Thakur Ji, then eat the food as prasad. In this way, service will be done and your food will also be ensured.
Adhaiya Ji said politely, “I do not know how to offer food.”
Swamiji said, “No problem, when the bhog is ready, call God. He will eat the bhog, then you can take the prasad.”
First offering of Adhaiya Ji and waiting for the arrival of God
On the first day, Adhaiya ji collected cow dung cakes from the forest and made two and a half kilo flour rotis on them. He also prepared potato bharta along with it. Then he folded his hands and said, “Gurudev’s Thakur, please come and have the Prasad.”
When no one came, Adhaiya became restless. He was feeling hungry and was losing patience while waiting for Ram ji to come. Bhola Manas did not know that the Lord would not appear in person. But it was necessary to obey Guruji.
After a while, he said to Lord Ram, “Look Lord, now I understand why you are not coming. I have cooked simple and dry food, whereas you are always used to eating good dishes, that is why you did not come.”
The Lord Shri Ram, who could not be called even by the rigorous penance of great sages and saints, appeared there immediately after hearing the true call of that innocent devotee.
Appearance of Lord Shri Ram on the call of Adhaya
When Adhaiya opened his eyes, he saw bow wielding Shri Ram standing in front of him. Adhaiya said in surprise, “Who are you?” God said smilingly, “People call me Shri Ram. You had called Gurudev’s Thakur, and I am your Gurudev’s Thakur, that’s why I have come.”
Shri Ram said, “The aroma of Aloo Bharta is very good, I will also eat with you.”
Adhaiya said in surprise, “I thought you only have to offer Bhog, do you really eat?”
Shri Ram replied, “I don’t accept everyone’s food, but when true devotees like you call me, I definitely eat.”
Adhaiya ji was very innocent, he did not know much. The God who does not come to the attention of even great sages, came immediately on being called once by that innocent devotee. Shri Ram said to Adhaiya ji, “You close your eyes, then I will accept the Bhog.”
Adhaiya ji thought that the Lord would eat just one or two Baatis, but Shri Ram ate all the food. When Adhaiya opened his eyes, he was stunned and said, “Prabhu, will you keep me hungry today?”
Shri Ram said smilingly, “Do you know why your Gurudev asked you to offer Bhog? Today is Ekadashi, so he gave you flour and asked you to cook and offer Bhog yourself. From now on, you will get flour and vegetables every day, and you cook and call us. We will come and have Bhog.”
Adhaiya ji asked curiously, “Prabhu, will you come every day?”
Shri Ram said smilingly, “If you call us every day, we will definitely come.”
The next day Adhaiya ji returned to the Ashram and said to Guruji, “Your Thakur ji came yesterday and ate all the Baatis. From now on, I will take five kilograms of flour – two and a half kilograms for your Thakur ji and two and a half kilograms for me.”
Guruji started laughing and said to the storekeeper, “Give him whatever he asks for. There is no need to ask.”
Mother Sita also came with Shri Ram this time
The next day, Adhaiya ji reached the forest to graze the cows. After leaving the cows, he again made Baati and Bharta. He served the food in a leaf plate and closed his eyes and said, “Gurudev’s Thakur, please come.”
When he opened his eyes, he saw that this time Mata Sita had also come with Shri Ram. Adhaiya asked in surprise, “Who is she?”
Shri Ram said smilingly, “This is my better half, Sita.”
Adhaiya ji asked innocently, “Why did you not tell me yesterday that you have a better half? Will she also eat with us?”
Shri Ram said smilingly, “Yes, she also eats as much as me.”
Adhaiya ji offered the food and said, “Gurudev’s Thakur, please accept the food.” And Shri Ram and Mata Sita together ate all the food.
Adhaiya ji returned to the ashram and said to Gurudev, “From tomorrow we need seven and a half kilos of flour, because your Thakur had brought his wife along today.” The people of the ashram were not able to believe his words and started thinking that Adhaiya ji might be feeding rotis to the cows. Guruji ordered that seven and a half kilograms of flour be given to Adhaiya ji.”
Arrival of Sita and Lakshmana with Shri Ram
The next day it was three o’clock in the afternoon when Adhaiya Ji was making Baati. After serving food in the leaf plate, he called out, “Gurudev’s Thakur, please come.” This time Shri Ram had brought Sita Ji and Lakshman Ji with him.
Adhaiya asked in surprise, “Who is he?”
Shri Ram said smilingly, “This is our younger brother Lakshman.”
Adhaiya said innocently, “If you had told us earlier, we would have made other arrangements.”
Shri Ram said laughingly to Lakshman, “He is a very innocent devotee, don’t be angry.”
After the three left, Adhaiya ate the leftovers in the leaf plates. As soon as he took that prasad, he felt a supernatural joy.
Adhaiya Ji asked for ten kilos of flour from the ashram the next day and told, “Today a fair-skinned brother also came with your Thakur Ji.” Guruji was surprised how this innocent devotee experienced Shri Ram, Sita and Lakshman. They thought he had gone mad because of hunger. They could not believe that all this was true.
Hanuman ji also arrives
Adhaiya ji took ten kilos of flour and went into the forest to make bati and then called, “Gurudev’s Thakur, come.” This time, Hanuman Ji also came along with Shri Ram, carrying a huge mace.
Adhaiya Ji was surprised and asked Shri Ram, “Who is this?”
Shri Ram said, “This is our beloved servant, Hanuman Ji.”
Adhaiya Ji smiled and said, “If you had told us in advance how many people would be there, we would have made more arrangements.”
Shri Ram said to Hanuman Ji, “Don’t be angry, this devotee is very unique.”
Adhaiya then told everyone, “Please have the Prasad, Prabhu.” Everyone enjoyed the Prasad and the remaining food was completely finished by Hanuman Ji.
Adhaiya ji returned to the ashram and said to Gurudev, “From tomorrow onwards, please give me five kilos more flour. Today a great devotee of your Lord also came along with you.
Gurudev was very surprised. He felt thrilled thinking whether the Lord is really being so kind to this devotee? He decided that next time Adhaiya will be tested.
Shri Ram and his entire family accepted the service of the devotee
The next day, Adhaiya took fifteen kilos of flour, made Baati and called out, “Gurudev’s Thakur, please come.” This time two more people had come with Shri Ram.
Adhaiya curiously asked Shri Ram, “Who are these two?”
Shri Ram smiled and said, “These are our two more brothers-Bharat and Shatrughna.”
Adhaiya thought, “Looks like I will have to stay hungry today too.”
Adhaiya happily fed everyone and himself quietly kept looking at everyone. Unknowingly his Ekadashi was also completed.
Adhaiya returned to the ashram and said to Gurudev, “From tomorrow, give me a sack of twenty kilos of flour. You have so many Thakurs, we will prepare bhog for them all day long.”
God himself prepared food for the devotee!
The next day Adhaiya Ji went to the forest, kept all the things, but did not cook anything. Then he called out, “Thakur of Gurudev, please come.”
The entire Ram Darbar was present there. But the Prasad was not ready. Prabhu asked Adhaiya, “Today there is no fragrance, why did you not cook anything?”
Adhaiya Ji replied simply, “I am not going to get food, so why should I cook? Prabhu, today your wife and servants are also with you. For so many days you have been accepting Prasad from our hands, today we want to have food from your hands.”
Prabhu looked at Sita Ji and said, “See, how unique this devotee is.” Sita Ji, who is the owner of infinite power and all powers, said smilingly, “True, this devotee is unique.”
Adhaiya Ji said, “Prabhu, I have neither collected wood nor cow dung cakes. Please tell your servants to arrange these things.”
Shri Ram immediately gave orders: sent Hanuman to collect wood and cow dung cakes, asked Lakshman to light the stove, and Sita herself began preparing the food.
Gurudev had a unique vision of God’s kindness!
Adhaya ji said to the Lord, “You prepare the food, I will gather the cows and come.” Then he quickly ran towards the ashram and said to Gurudev, “Today we have invited your Thakur’s entire family here. All the Thakurs are preparing roti and baati together. Gurudev, you also come, you always doubted, today you yourself take the food prepared by them.”
Gurudev thought that this person is crazy. How can Shri Ram, who does not even come in the meditation of great Yogis, come in front of an ordinary cowherd, who neither knows how to chant any mantra nor read any scripture? But he decided that the kindness of God should not be doubted and went to see.
Gurudev, who was always engrossed in bhajan, was entitled to have the darshan of the Lord. When he reached there, he saw that the entire Ram Darbar was present. He prostrated himself at the feet of the Lord and said, “Prabhu, this leela of yours is beyond my understanding.”
Shri Ram smiled and said, “Those who are knowledgeable devotees, I cannot be understood even by logic, and even the scholarship of learned people cannot touch me. But in front of those who are simple, honest and innocent, I forget my glory and divinity. See, at the behest of this innocent devotee of yours, our whole family is engaged in serving him.”
Thus, at the request of a simple devotee, the Lord also cooked food. This wonderful story of devotion is based on popular belief.
અઢૈયાનું અનોખું નામ અને જીવન સંઘર્ષ
એક ગામમાં અઢૈયા નામનો એક ખૂબ જ સીધો સાદો યુવાન રહેતો હતો. અઢૈયા એટલે અઢી કિલો. તેનું નામ અઢૈયા રાખવામાં આવ્યું કારણ કે તેનો ખોરાક ઓછામાં ઓછો અઢી કિલો હતો. તેના માતા-પિતાના અવસાન પછી તેને દરરોજ અઢી કિલો લોટની રોટલી ખવડાવવા માટે કોઈ બચ્યું ન હતું. તેનો પરિવાર હતો, પરંતુ તેણે કોઈ ધંધો નહોતો કર્યો. તેની ખાણીપીણીની આદતથી નિરાશ થઈને પરિવારે તેને ઘરની બહાર કાઢી મૂક્યો અને કહ્યું, “અમને આટલું ખાવાનું પોષાય તેમ નથી. તું બીજે ક્યાંક ચાલ્યો જા જ્યાં તું પેટ ભરી શકે.”
આશ્રમમાં આશ્રય અને સ્વામી રામદાસજીને મળવું
અઢૈયા દુઃખી મન સાથે ચાલવા લાગ્યા. ભૂખથી પરેશાન થઈને એક દિવસ તે એક આશ્રમમાં પહોંચ્યો અને ત્યાં કામ માંગવા લાગ્યો. તે મહાન સંત સમર્થ સ્વામી શ્રી રામદાસજીનો આશ્રમ હતો, જેને સ્વયં હનુમાનજીનો અવતાર માનવામાં આવતો હતો. અધૈયાએ સ્વામીજીને પ્રણામ કર્યા અને તેમને પોતાની સમસ્યા જણાવી.
સ્વામીજીએ કહ્યું, “અહીં ભંડારો છે, તમારા ભોજનની વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવશે. પરંતુ, બદલામાં તમારે અહીં સેવા કરવી પડશે.”
અઢૈયાએ રાહત અનુભવતા કહ્યું, “મને જે પણ કામ આપવામાં આવશે, હું તે શીખીશ અને કરીશ.”
સ્વામીજીએ વિચાર કર્યો અને ગાયોને ચરાવવાની જવાબદારી અઢૈયાને આપી. તેમને કહ્યું કે વૈષ્ણવ પરંપરાને અનુસરીને જ્યારે તમે ગાયો ચરાવવા જાઓ ત્યારે અહીંથી લોટ અને શાકભાજી લઈ જાવ. જંગલમાં જઈને ભોજન તૈયાર કરો, પહેલા ઠાકુરજીને અર્પણ કરો અને પછી પ્રસાદ તરીકે ભોજન કરો. આ રીતે સેવા પૂરી પાડવામાં આવશે અને તમારા ભોજનની પણ ખાતરી થશે.
અઢૈયાજીએ નમ્રતાથી કહ્યું, “મને ભોજન કેવી રીતે આપવું તે પણ ખબર નથી.”
સ્વામીજીએ કહ્યું, “કોઈ વાંધો નહીં, જ્યારે ભોગ તૈયાર થઈ જાય, ત્યારે ભગવાનને બોલાવો. તેઓ ભોગ આપશે, પછી તમે પ્રસાદ લઈ શકશો.”
અઢૈયાજીનું પ્રથમ અર્પણ અને ભગવાનના આગમનની રાહ જોવી
પ્રથમ દિવસે, અઢૈયાજીએ જંગલમાં ગાયના છાણા એકઠ્ઠા કરી અને તેના પર અઢી કિલો લોટની રોટલી બનાવી. બટેટાના ભર્તા પણ તૈયાર કર્યા. પછી તેણે હાથ જોડીને કહ્યું, “ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર, આવો અને ભોજન ગ્રહણ કરો .”
કોઈ ન આવ્યું ત્યારે અઢૈયાજી બેચેન થઈ ગયા. તેને ભૂખ લાગી હતી અને રામજીના આગમનની રાહ જોતા તે ધીરજ ગુમાવવા લાગ્યા. નિર્દોષ મન જાણતું ન હતું કે ભગવાન રૂબરૂમાં દેખાશે નહીં. પણ ગુરુજીની આજ્ઞાનું પાલન કરવું જરૂરી હતું.
થોડી વાર પછી તેણે ભગવાન રામને કહ્યું, “જુઓ પ્રભુ, હવે મને સમજાયું કે તમે કેમ નથી આવતા. મેં સાદું અને સૂકું ભોજન બનાવ્યું છે, જ્યારે તમને હંમેશા સારી વાનગીઓ ખાવાની આદત છે, તેથી તમે ન આવ્યા.”
ભગવાન શ્રી રામ, જેમને મહાન ઋષિમુનિઓનું સખત ધ્યાન પણ બોલાવી શક્યું ન હતું, તે નિર્દોષ ભક્તની સાચી રુદન સાંભળીને તરત જ ત્યાં હાજર થયા.
અધૈયાના આહ્વાન પર ભગવાન શ્રી રામનું પ્રગટ થવું
જ્યારે અઢૈયાએ આંખો ખોલી તો જોયું કે શ્રી રામ તેમની સામે ધનુષ્ય લઈને ઉભા છે. અધૈયાએ આશ્ચર્યમાં પૂછ્યું, “તમે કોણ છો?” ભગવાને હસીને કહ્યું, “લોકો મને શ્રી રામ કહે છે. તમે ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર કહ્યા હતા, અને અમે તમારા ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર છીએ, તેથી અમે આવ્યા છીએ.”
શ્રી રામે કહ્યું, “બટાટા ભરતાની સુગંધ ખૂબ જ સરસ છે, અમે પણ તમારી સાથે જમીશું.”
અઢૈયાને આશ્ચર્ય થયું અને કહ્યું, “મેં વિચાર્યું કે તમારે ફક્ત ભોજન જ આપવાનું છે, શું તમે ખરેખર ખાઓ છો?”
શ્રી રામે જવાબ આપ્યો, “અમે દરેકનું ભોજન સ્વીકારતા નથી, પરંતુ જ્યારે તમારા જેવા સાચા ભક્તો અમને બોલાવે છે, ત્યારે અમે જમીએ છીએ.”
અઢૈયાજી ખૂબ જ નિર્દોષ હતા, તેમને બહુ ખબર નહોતી. જે ભગવાન મોટા-મોટા ઋષિઓના ધ્યાન પર પણ આવતા નથી, તે નિર્દોષ ભક્ત દ્વારા એકવાર બોલાવવામાં આવતાં તરત જ આવી ગયા. શ્રી રામે અઢૈયાજીને કહ્યું, “તમે તમારી આંખો બંધ કરો, પછી અમે ભોજનનો આનંદ લઈશું.”
અઢૈયાજીએ વિચાર્યું કે ભગવાન ફક્ત એક કે બે બાટી ખાશે, પરંતુ શ્રી રામે આખું ભોજન લીધું. જ્યારે અઢૈયાએ આંખો ખોલી ત્યારે તે સ્તબ્ધ થઈ ગયો અને બોલ્યો, “પ્રભુ, તમે મને આજે ભૂખ્યો રાખશો?”
શ્રી રામે હસતાં હસતાં કહ્યું, “તમને ખબર છે કે તમારા ગુરુદેવે તમને ભોગ ધરાવવાનું કેમ કહ્યું હતું? આજે એકાદશી છે, તેથી તેમણે તમને લોટ આપ્યો અને તમને જાતે જ રાંધીને અર્પણ કરવા કહ્યું. હવેથી તમને રોજ લોટ અને શાકભાજી મળશે, અને તમે તેને રાંધ્યા પછી અમને બોલાવો અને અમે તેનો આનંદ લઈશું.”
અઢૈયાજીએ કુતૂહલવશ પૂછ્યું, “પ્રભુ, તમે રોજ આવશો?”
શ્રી રામે હસતાં હસતાં કહ્યું, “જો તમે રોજ બોલાવશો તો ચોક્કસ આવીશ.”
બીજે દિવસે અઢૈયાજી આશ્રમમાં પાછા ફર્યા અને ગુરુજીને કહ્યું, “તમારા ઠાકુર જી ગઈ કાલે આવ્યા હતા અને આખી બાટી ખાધી હતી. હવેથી હું પાંચ કિલો લોટ લઈશ – તમારા ઠાકુરજી માટે અઢી કિલો અને અઢી કિલો. મારા માટે અડધો કિલો.”
ગુરુજી હસી પડ્યા, અને કારભારીને કહ્યું, “તેઓ જે માંગે તે આપો. પૂછવાની જરૂર નથી.”
આ વખતે શ્રી રામ સાથે માતા સીતા પણ આવ્યા
બીજે દિવસે અઢૈયાજી ગાયો ચરાવવા જંગલમાં પહોંચ્યા. ગાયોને મુક્ત કર્યા પછી તેણે ફરીથી બાટી અને ભરતા બનાવ્યા. થાળીમાં ભોજન પીરસ્યા પછી તેણે આંખો બંધ કરી અને કહ્યું, “ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર, આવો.”
જ્યારે તેણે આંખો ખોલી તો તેણે જોયું કે આ વખતે માતા સીતા પણ શ્રી રામ સાથે આવ્યા હતા. અઢૈયાએ આશ્ચર્યમાં પૂછ્યું, “આ કોણ છે?”
શ્રી રામે હસીને કહ્યું, “આ મારા પત્ની છે, સીતા .”
અઢૈયાજીએ નિર્દોષતાથી પૂછ્યું, “ગઈકાલે તમે અમને કેમ ન કહ્યું કે તમારા પત્ની પણ છે? શું તે પણ અમારી સાથે ભોજન કરશે?”
શ્રી રામે હસીને કહ્યું, “હા, તે પણ મારા જેટલો જ ખોરાક ખાય છે.”
ભોગ અર્પણ કરતી વખતે, અધૈયાજીએ કહ્યું, “ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર, કૃપા કરીને ભોગ સ્વીકારો.” અને શ્રી રામ અને માતા સીતાએ સાથે મળીને બધુ ભોજન કર્યું.
અઢૈયાજી આશ્રમમાં પાછા ફર્યા અને ગુરુદેવને કહ્યું, “કાલથી અમારે સાડા સાત કિલો લોટની જરૂર છે, કારણ કે તમારા ઠાકુર આજે તેમની પત્નીને પણ લઈને આવ્યા હતા.” આશ્રમના લોકો તેમની વાત પર વિશ્વાસ ન કરી શક્યા અને વિચારવા લાગ્યા કે અઢૈયાજી ગાયોને બાટી ખવડાવી રહ્યા હશે. ગુરુજીએ આદેશ આપ્યો કે અધૈયાજીને સાડા સાત કિલો લોટ આપવામાં આવે.”
શ્રી રામ સાથે સીતાજી અને લક્ષ્મણજીનું આગમન
બીજે દિવસે બપોરના ત્રણ વાગ્યા હતા જ્યારે અઢૈયાજી બાટી બનાવી રહ્યા હતા. થાળીમાં ભોજન પીરસ્યા પછી તેણે કહ્યું, “ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર, આવો.” આ વખતે શ્રી રામ સીતાજી અને લક્ષ્મણજીને પોતાની સાથે લાવ્યા હતા.
અઢૈયાએ આશ્ચર્યમાં પૂછ્યું, “આ કોણ છે?”
શ્રી રામે હસીને કહ્યું, “આ મારો નાનો ભાઈ લક્ષ્મણ છે.”
અઢૈયાએ નિર્દોષતાથી કહ્યું, “જો તમે અમને પહેલા કહ્યું હોત, તો હું વધુ વ્યવસ્થા કરી શક્યો હોત.”
શ્રી રામે હસતાં હસતાં લક્ષ્મણને કહ્યું, “તે ખૂબ જ નિર્દોષ ભક્ત છો, ગુસ્સે થશો નહીં.”
ત્રણેય ગયા પછી અઅઢૈયાએ જે પાન બચ્યું હતું તે ખાધું. પ્રસાદ સ્વીકારતાની સાથે જ તેમને અલૌકિક આનંદની અનુભૂતિ થઈ.
બીજા દિવસે અઢૈયાજીએ આશ્રમમાંથી દસ કિલો લોટ મંગાવ્યો અને કહ્યું, “આજે તમારા ઠાકુરજી સાથે એક ગોરો ભાઈ પણ આવ્યો હતો.” ગુરુજીને આશ્ચર્ય થયું કે આ નિર્દોષ ભક્તને શ્રી રામ, સીતા અને લક્ષ્મણનો અનુભવ કેવી રીતે થયો. તેઓએ વિચાર્યું, તે ભૂખને કારણે પાગલ થઈ ગયો છે. તેઓ માની જ ન શક્યા કે આ બધું સાચું છે.
હનુમાનજી પણ પધાર્યા
અઢૈયાજી જંગલમાં ગયા, દસ કિલો લોટ લઈને બાટી બનાવી અને પછી બોલાવ્યા, “ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર, આવો.” આ વખતે હનુમાનજી પણ શ્રી રામ સાથે વિશાળ ગદા લઈને આવ્યા હતા.
અઢૈયાને આશ્ચર્ય થયું અને શ્રી રામને પૂછ્યું, “આ કોણ છે?”
શ્રી રામે કહ્યું, “આ અમારા પ્રિય સેવક હનુમાનજી છે.”
અઢૈયાજીએ હસતાં હસતાં કહ્યું, “જો તમે અમને અગાઉથી કહ્યું હોત કે કેટલા લોકો હશે તો અમે વધુ વ્યવસ્થા કરી લીધી હોત.”
શ્રી રામે હનુમાનજીને કહ્યું, “ગુસ્સો ના કરતા, આ ભક્ત ખૂબ જ અનન્ય છે.”
પછી અઢૈયાએ બધાને કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, પ્રસાદ ગ્રહણ કરો.” બધાએ પ્રસાદનો આનંદ માણ્યો અને બાકીનું ભોજન હનુમાનજીએ પૂરું કર્યું.
અઢૈયાજી આશ્રમમાં પાછા ફર્યા અને ગુરુદેવને કહ્યું, “કાલથી મને વધુ પાંચ કિલો લોટ આપજો. આજે તમારા ભગવાનનો એક મહાન સેવક પણ આવ્યો હતો.
ગુરુદેવને ખૂબ જ આશ્ચર્ય થયું. તે વિચારીને રોમાંચિત થઈ ગયો કે શું ખરેખર ભગવાન આ ભક્ત પર આટલી બધી કૃપા કરી રહ્યા છે? તેઓએ નક્કી કર્યું કે આગલી વખતે અઢૈયાનું પરીક્ષણ કરવામાં આવશે.
શ્રી રામ અને તેમના સમગ્ર પરિવારે ભક્તની સેવા સ્વીકારી
બીજે દિવસે અઢૈયાએ પંદર કિલો લોટ લીધો, બાટી બનાવી અને બોલાવ્યા , “ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર, આવો.” આ વખતે શ્રી રામ સાથે વધુ બે લોકો પણ આવ્યા હતા.
અઢૈયાએ કુતૂહલપૂર્વક શ્રી રામને પૂછ્યું, “આ બે કોણ છે?”
શ્રી રામે હસતાં હસતાં કહ્યું, “આ મારા બે વધુ ભાઈઓ છે – ભરત અને શત્રુઘ્ન.”
અઢૈયાએ વિચાર્યું, “લાગે છે કે મારે આજે પણ ભૂખ્યા રહેવું પડશે.”
અઢૈયાજીએ બધાને ખુશીથી ભોજન પીરસ્યું અને પોતે બધાને ચુપચાપ જોવા લાગ્યા. અજાણતા તેની એકાદશી પણ પૂરી થઈ ગઈ.
અઢૈયાજી આશ્રમમાં પાછા ફર્યા અને ગુરુદેવને કહ્યું, “કાલથી મને વીસ કિલો લોટની એક બોરી આપજો . તમારી પાસે ઘણા બધા ઠાકરો છે, હું દિવસભર તેમના માટે ભોજન બનાવીશું.”
ભગવાને પોતે ભક્ત માટે ભોજન બનાવ્યું!
બીજે દિવસે અઢૈયાજી જંગલમાં ગયા, બધી વસ્તુઓ રાખી, પણ કંઈ રાંધ્યું નહિ. પછી તેણે બૂમ પાડી, “ગુરુદેવના ઠાકુર, આવો.”
આખો રામ દરબાર ત્યાં હાજર હતો. પણ પ્રસાદ તૈયાર નહોતો. પ્રભુએ અઢૈયાને પૂછ્યું, “આજે કોઈ સુગંધ નથી આવતી, તમે કંઈક તૈયાર કેમ ન કર્યું?”
અઢૈયાજીએ સહજતાથી જવાબ આપ્યો, “મને તો ખાવાનું મળવાનું નથી, તો હું શા માટે રાંધુ ? પ્રભુ, આજે તમારી પત્ની અને સેવક પણ તમારી સાથે છે. આટલા દિવસોથી તમે મારા હાથનો પ્રસાદ ગ્રહણ કરો છો, આજે હું તમારા હાથનું ભોજન ગ્રહણ કરવા માંગુ છું.”
ભગવાને સીતાજી તરફ જોયું અને કહ્યું, “જુઓ, આ ભક્ત કેટલા અનન્ય છે.” અનંત શક્તિ અને સર્વ શક્તિઓના માલિક સીતાજીએ હસતાં હસતાં કહ્યું, “એ સાચું છે, આ ભક્ત અનન્ય છે.”
અઢૈયાજીએ કહ્યું, “ભગવાન, મેં ન તો લાકડાં એકઠા કર્યા છે કે ન તો છાણાં . કૃપા કરીને તમારા સેવકોને આ વસ્તુઓની વ્યવસ્થા કરવા કહો.”
શ્રી રામે તરત જ આદેશ આપ્યો: હનુમાનજીને લાકડાં અને છાણાં ભેગા કરવા મોકલ્યા, લક્ષ્મણજીને ચૂલો સળગાવવા માટે કહ્યું, અને સીતાજીએ પોતે ભોજન બનાવવાનું કામ શરૂ કર્યું.
ગુરુદેવને ભગવાનની દયાની અનોખી ઝલક જોવા મળી!
અઢૈયાજીએ ભગવાનને કહ્યું, “તમે ભોજન તૈયાર કરો, હું ગાયો ભેગી કરીને પાછો આવીશ.” પછી તે ઝડપથી આશ્રમ તરફ દોડ્યો અને ગુરુદેવને કહ્યું, “આજે અમે તમારા ઠાકુરના આખા પરિવારને અહીં બોલાવ્યા છે. બધા ઠાકુરો સાથે મળીને રોટલી અને બાટી બનાવી રહ્યા છે. ગુરુદેવ, તમે પણ આવો, તમને હંમેશા શંકા હતી, આજે તમે જાતે તેમના દ્વારા તૈયાર કરાયેલ ખોરાક ખાઓ. .”
ગુરુદેવને લાગ્યું કે આ વ્યક્તિ પાગલ છે. શ્રી રામ જે મહાન યોગીઓના ધ્યાન પર પણ નથી આવતા તે એક સામાન્ય મૂર્ખની સામે કેવી રીતે આવી શકે, જે ન તો કોઈ મંત્રનો જાપ જાણતો હોય અને ન તો શાસ્ત્રો વાંચતા હોય? પરંતુ તેણે ઈશ્વરની દયા પર શંકા ન કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું અને જઈને એક નજર નાખી.
હંમેશા ભજનમાં તલ્લીન રહેતા ગુરૂદેવ ચોક્કસપણે પ્રભુના દર્શન માટે હકદાર હતા. જ્યારે તેઓ ત્યાં પહોંચ્યા તો જોયું કે આખો રામ દરબાર હાજર હતો. તેણે પ્રભુના ચરણોમાં પ્રણામ કર્યા અને કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, તમારું આ કૃત્ય મારી સમજની બહાર છે.”
શ્રી રામે હસતાં હસતાં કહ્યું, “જેઓ જ્ઞાની ભક્તો છે તેમના તર્કથી પણ હું સમજી શકતો નથી, અને વિદ્વાનોની વિદ્વતા પણ મને સ્પર્શી શકતી નથી. પણ જેઓ સરળ, પ્રામાણિક અને નિર્દોષ છે, તેમની સામે હું મારો મહિમા સમજાવી શકતો નથી. દેવતા.” જુઓ, તમારા આ નિર્દોષ ભક્તના કહેવાથી, અમારું આખું કુટુંબ તેમની સેવામાં લાગેલું છે.
આમ, એક સાદા ભક્તની વિનંતી પર, ભગવાને રસોડું પણ બનાવ્યું. ભક્તિની આ અદ્ભુત કથા પ્રચલિત માન્યતા પર આધારિત છે.
