स्कंदमाता: माँ दुर्गा की पांचवीं शक्ति
स्कंदमाता माँ दुर्गा के नौ रूपों में से पाँचवां स्वरूप हैं, जिनकी पूजा नवरात्रि के पाँचवें दिन की जाती है। उनका नाम उनके पुत्र भगवान स्कंद से जुड़ा है, जिन्हें कार्तिकेय या युद्ध के देवता के रूप में जाना जाता है। “स्कंद” का अर्थ है कार्तिकेय, और “माता” का अर्थ है माँ , इसलिए स्कंदमाता को माँ के रूप में देखा जाता है।

पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, एक समय तारकासुर नामक एक भयानक राक्षस का आतंक पूरे ब्रह्मांड में फैला हुआ था। उसकी शक्ति इतनी अधिक थी कि उसे खत्म करने वाला कोई भी नहीं था। केवल भगवान शिव का पुत्र कार्तिकेय ही उसकी हार का कारण बन सकता था।
इस स्थिति में, मां पार्वती ने स्कंदमाता का रूप धारण किया और अपने पुत्र स्कंद (कार्तिकेय) को युद्ध के लिए तैयार करने का निर्णय लिया। मां ने उसे कठोर प्रशिक्षण दिया, ताकि वह अपने भीतर की शक्ति को पहचान सके और उस राक्षस का सामना कर सके।

According to the legend, once upon a time the terror of a terrible demon named Tarakasura was spread across the universe. His power was so great that there was no one who could destroy him. Only Lord Shiva’s son Kartikeya could cause his defeat.
In this situation, Mother Parvati took the form of Skandamata and decided to prepare her son Skanda (Kartikeya) for the war. The mother gave him rigorous training, so that he could recognize the power within himself and face that demon.
